On March 22, the delegation, leading by Madam Praneet Didyasarin, the founder of Hatyai University (HU), visited University of Sanya (USY). Prof. Lu Dan, President of USY, Prof. Nie Peiyao, Vice President and the heads of related schools and department attended the meeting in which the two sides discussed the content of the previously signed "Strategic Cooperation Framework for ASEAN-China Private Higher Education Institutions".
To begin with, Prof. Lu, on behalf of the university and himself, expressed his warm welcome to the visiting guests. He said the two universities had many similarities in the operation and disciplines building so he look forward to the mutual development of the two universities through international education cooperation. The meeting this time firstly is to further discuss the details of our cooperation, followed by the framework which signed in the ASEAN-China Forum for Private Higher Education Development and Cooperation. Secondly it is to expand our cooperation scope through the profound discussion and mutual learning of the two universities. USY is willing to work together with HU to push forward the process.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Wittawat Didyasarin Sattayarak, President of HU, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the USY for the reception. He commended USY for the excellent environment and well-run equipment. He was looking forward to the cooperation and sincerely invited us to have an official visit to their university. As he said, during the past 20 years since HU established, HU devoted all its efforts to cultivate the elites and brought back their thankfulness to the society. He hoped that we could get in-depth cooperation in the international business management as well as the tourism industry based on the signed framework.
USY campus tour
During the meeting, the two sides reached an agreement and will enhance the cooperation in the field of students exchange, summer school, joint program in master and doctor degree, international business management and tourism industry. Moreover, USY will build up a new college in HU to extend new cooperation range and start to jointly train the talents in automotive engineering and electronic engineering.
HU delegation also delivered a speech to the students of the Silk Road Business School on the evening of 22nd. Asst. Prof. Dr. Wittawat Didyasarin Sattayarak, President of HU said, as China and ASEAN had set up a close cooperative partner relationship, tourism and education must progressively be the key points of building the “Silk Road” between China and ASEAN. Thailand is the center of the logistics and trades of ASEAN and also the natural bridge between China and ASEAN. HU and USY will surely mutually benefit from our cooperation in education and civilization and we will provide the talents with a world-wide view.
Founded in 1997 and located at Hatyai City of Songkhla, Thailand, Hatyai University is the first private university in Thailand which is also one of the fastest developing private universities in Thailand. HU had 7 schools and 29 majors with master degree program in education, business administration and doctor degree program in philosophy and education. HU devoted to cultivate excellent students and develop research outcomes in order to meet the needs of society as HU thought high academic standards are the primary goal of a university. HU already passed the assessment of MOE in Thailand.
"Strategic Cooperation Framework for ASEAN-China Private Higher Education Institutions" signing
In November of 2017, the first ASEAN-China Forum for Private Higher Education Development and Cooperation was successfully held in USY and we had signed the "Strategic Cooperation Framework for ASEAN-China Private Higher Education Institutions" with presidents and representatives from 7 ASEAN universities in order to build up long-term and effective cooperation mechanism in education, research, talent pool and forum among China and ASEAN private universities. The education collaboration with HU this time is to further push and implement the details and promote the new process between China and other ASEAN private higher education institutions by setting up innovative cooperative models and optimizing the collaboration path.
